What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a natural Holistic Therapy, which uses specific pressures, and massage techniques on your feet. It is believed that your whole body is mapped or 'reflected' onto your feet. By activating 'reflex' points it encourages your body's own healing processes in those areas. Reflexology's positive touch works both physically and emotionally to correct imbalances throughout your body.
It is deeply relaxing.

What Happens During a Treatment?

After a short consultation, and a  brief 'VRT' treatment while standing,  you will be settled comfortably onto a couch or reclining chair . You will only need to take off your shoes and socks. A light cream will be used during treatment, followed by a short relaxing foot massage at the end.
This is your time to relax and enjoy. Some people like to chat, but  others find more benefit if they shut their eyes and enjoy the feelings of their feet being treated.
The treatment takes about 50 mins, with a few minutes to recover and talk about some self help techniques to use on yourself at home.

 VRT
Used alone, VRT can be a complete treatment in it's own right. it will take 20 mins, and you will stand for half of this time, while I work on your weight bearing feet. This can be a cost effective therapy to target specific conditions - eg Sub fertility, pain & mobility.

Your Feet!
Some clients worry about the condition of their feet, especially if coming straight from work! I can assure you that this is quite normal and will not be a problem for me. I have 'wet - wipes' you can use yourself if it makes you feel more comfortable, however I will always clean your feet before starting a treatment, whether they need it or not!

And remember you are not coming for a manicure - I will not be at all concerned about whether your feet look beautiful or not!

Will Reflexology Tickle or Hurt?

As Reflexology is a Treatment, and not just a foot massage, some areas of your feet may be more sensitive to the pressure than others. This feeling has been described as 'a Good Pain'!
But I do not set out to hurt you, and will adjust the pressure and techniques to suit you.
Those with ticklish feet are often surprised that Reflexology does not affect them.

Please ask for a 'taster' session if you are concerned!

The Consultation

At the first appointment you will be asked some basic health and lifestyle questions. This will help me to tailor the treatment to your needs, and will be reviewed at each appointment. Everything will remain confidential.
Although Reflexology is non-invasive and very safe, clients with certain medical conditions may be asked to check with their GP before treatment. (eg Those who have Diabetic related foot problems) However if reflexology is not possible on your feet, it could be carried out on your hands.
